About Me:

I am currently undergoing the Masters of Arts in Teaching program at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. This one-year intensive Master's program is remarkably demanding, however it is a challenge that I relish with confidence that it will prepare me to be an excellent high school social studies teacher. I am a graduate of The Ohio State University with degrees in Integrated Social Studies and Public Affairs, with a senior research project focusing on alternative education movements and reforms to traditional schooling, entitled "Improving Our Nation's Public Education System."

In the Brown MAT program, students teach a three week class during the month of July for Brown Summer High School. With two team teachers, we analyzed and critiqued the question "What is the American Dream?" with our thirty high school students, of all grade and learning levels.

After an academic semester in which I took four courses at Brown, I began my student teaching semester at Paul Cuffee School in Providence, RI. At this high achieving urban charter school, I had the opportunity to teach two sections of humanities to forty 8th grade students. This teaching experience, along with my work at Brown Summer High School, will be reflected upon in this teaching portfolio.
