Parent-Teacher Conferences are held at the end of each trimester at Paul Cuffee School, and I had the opportunity to sit in on each and meet each of my students' parents and family. A unique aspect of the PCS conference system is that the students are responsible for leading each conference and telling their parents how they've done in the trimester. After showing some of their best work to their parents, the students one by one went through the standards and their performance in each. After seeing the report card, the parents and students had the chance to ask questions to myself and Mr. Chen, and then to reflect on their student's growth. Sitting in on each conference helped me to better understand my students and their needs, as well as where they are coming from and what struggles they might face. It was also important to make myself visible to the parents and families and ensure that I establish a relationship with the individuals that are important to my students.
