For the ELL student in my classroom, I made modifications to most homeworks and projects with the help of the literacy coach and my mentor teacher. One specific example of a project which was modified for his success was the comic strip project, the same used as an example for the special education modification. With the ELL student though, he was very comfortable creating images to represent the research that he had done, but the necessary inclusion for facts and complexity of research in his project was less, as the research project itself that the presentation was based on, was modified for the student. Rather than having to include five new facts that were gained in the reserach project, the ELL student only needed to include three. Additionally, he was given a graphic organizer and story arc to help him develop a story with the research that he had to then translate into a visual comic strip. With this project, he excelled more so than in any previous assignment, as he claimed that he was very comfortable drawing and creating visuals, and found it a much more comfortable way of sharing his research than acting for the class or being required to write another paper.
