As second artifact that relates to my teaching, I chose to include the summative assessment that I created in future teaching of the Civil War. As an end of the unit project, I suggested that the teacher host a dinner party in which each student is expected to assume the identity of a Civil War character. These range from Confederate and Union leaders, soldiers, individuals on the homefront, and characters both dead and alive. Students would be first expected to research their individual and ready to answer questions posed to their character by both the teacher, or dinner party host, as well as their peers. This was a project created that included both the arts literacy pieces from my student teaching semester, as well as the content gained from the American Civil War class. This project could be translated across units and curricula, and would serve as a way to engage many types of learners and to encourage them to conduct a greater depth of research if performance is the final step.
