This is the unit plan I created before I began the Rome Unit with my classes and I followed through on it pretty throughtly. I added the problem solving task to the honors class. I did realize afterwards though that the rest of this unit was really focused on developing student comprehension of the material on Rome's history and not on developing student's higher level thinking skills, which I tried to address in my next unit on World Religions.
