These were my classroom rules which I wrote up as the twelve tables because we were studying Rome. I did a good job of reinforcing these rules throughout the semester but wish in retrospect that I spent more time engaging in discussion with students about them up front. They were very similar to the posted classroom rules of my mentor teacher whose class I was taking over mid-year so the students already had established routines. Therefore, I felt didn't need to spend as much time investing students in them but doing a better job there would have made my job easier later and I certainly plan to do that more next year in my own classroom.
