My micro-teaching presentation focused on teaching students to understand the comparisons in similes and metaphors. When I taught similes and metaphors, my students could identify them and the two things being compared but struggled to understand the meaning or significance of the comparison. The lesson involves teaching students a series of steps that help them figure out the meaning of the comparison. The lesson, however, requires that students know the two things that are being compared. If they do not know one, they will not be able to complete all the steps.
