One of the summative assessments for the 3rd quarter was the CD project. The assignment asked students to choose 3 moments in the play and choose 3 songs to represent how Romeo or Juliet felt at that moment. Students also had to write a paragraph explaining their song choice and how the song represented the character’s feelings. I scaffolded the assignment by playing a few songs in class and explaining to students how the song represented the feelings of the character. The CD project was a success. My students really enjoyed choosing songs, and the assignment helped them make a connection between Romeo and Juliet and the music they listen to on a daily basis.
