The Titan Debate Team enjoyed continued and hard earned success at this weekend's tournament at Manual Arts High School. Isabel Berrera placed 5th in the speaker awards out of nearly one hundred debaters from nine different high schools in the Novice Division. Daniel Cervantes, Moises Silva, and Joel Su all won top speaker awards in the Varsity Division. Iosdelyn Ramirez and Moises Silva beat rival Crenshaw high school to advance to the Finals in Varsity and Daniel Cervantes and Joel Su beat top seeded 4-0 Downtown Magnet High School to advance to the Finals in the Varsity Division. Both teams received trophies for winning the semi-final rounds, but they opted to share the first place trophy for the Varsity Final's Award instead of debating each other in finals (although Daniel and Joel wanted to but sacrificed for the good of the younger debaters and the team as a whole). We had 28 students compete and everyone did really well, really well!
