This video is from the same series made by CNN on Michelle Wie, analyzing her chances of a potential "burn out," something many young and talented athletes often experience.  Personally, it seems that they're predictions are premature. This was filmed when she was only 15, far too early to make any accurate predictions for the future.

Since then, it has become more apparent that Michelle Wie really has burned out from playing.  Some reasons are her inability to make the cut in any of the PGA events she has played in, even missing one cut by 14 strokes, her decision not to enroll in the LPGA Tour qualifying school when she turned 18, only allowing her to play in a maximum of six LPGA events a year, her mysterious wrist injury at the beginning of 2007 in which no details or hard evidence was given or seen and many claim was fabricated by her family to give her a brief break from golf, and her withdrawal from the 2007 Ginn Tribute event after being 14 over par by the 16th hole, fearing the possibility of being banned from playing in any other LPGA event for the rest of the year if she had posted a score of 88 or above.

Due to her lower than normal performance, since she has turned professional at 16, she has not received nearly as much attention as she did when she was a younger amateur.  I completely sympathize with Michelle and cannot even begin to imagine the immense pressure she has been under since she won her first event at age 11. Experiencing burn out right around the college age (18+) is very common. I experienced it myself. It also seems that many athletes, as they leave home and constant parental supervision, start to question their motives for a lot of their activities and decide to take their lives in a different direction.
