My name is Mary Woodard. I was raised in Okarche, Oklahoma where I was homeschooled for five years before entering public school in 7th grade. My highly individualized education allowed me to accel in my academics and lead me to a lifelong love of learning. I graduated from Brown University in 2018 with a degree in Literary Arts with Honors in Cross-Disciplinary Writing, and I am currently in the Brown University Masters of Arts in Teaching program.

As part of the MAT program, I completed a fall practicum and spring student teaching semester at Hope High School, a public school in Providence, Rhode Island. Under the mentorship of Laura Maxwell, I developed my craft as an active teacher who is ready to face any challenge with creativity and compassion. This portfolio documents my work at Hope High School. My summer portfolio for Brown Summer High School can be found here.

When I’m not being a teacher I’m playing video games, dreaming of all the books I want to write, or doting on my two cat children, Princess Leia and Kirjava.
