Hello and welcome to my Fall Portfolio! In this portfolio I showcase some of the work my 3rd graders and I did this Fall. As Masters in Teaching (MAT) Candidates, this Fall we had a student-teaching placement to which we committed 2.5 days for in class teaching and planning. With the assistance and support of our mentor teachers, we were able to assist in classrooms, learn from our mentor’s teaching style, and ultimately take over for portions of the day as lead teachers. I had the opportunity to work at Highlander Charter School, a public charter that serves the Providence and surrounding area. I was in one of two third grade classes at Highlander supporting and learning from my mentor (Lindsay Robinson) with our 18 students. This number became 19 at the end of my placement with the arrival of a student from Puerto Rico who started the year right before Thanksgiving break.

As part of the MAT program, we strive to learn, grow, and reflect upon how we are improving, reaching, and meeting each of our seven Brown Practice-Based Standards. These seven standards stand as guides to becoming better educators for ourselves and our students. Throughout my portfolio you are provided with examples of the various ways I attempted to meet each of these standards, whether it was successful or not. These continue to be my reflective steps to growth and combating daily educational challenges.
